Description

These Ham and Cheese Puff Pastry Pinwheels are crispy, golden, and packed with melty cheese and savory ham — all rolled up in buttery puff pastry. They come together quickly with just a few ingredients, making them perfect for a quick snack, appetizer, or kid-approved lunchbox treat. So easy, so tasty, and always a hit!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed

  • 34 slices deli ham (thinly sliced)

  • ¾ cup shredded cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or mozzarella)

  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional, for extra flavor)

  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface into a 10×12-inch rectangle.

  3. Spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard over the pastry (optional).

  4. Layer slices of ham evenly over the surface.

  5. Sprinkle shredded cheese over the ham.

  6. Starting from the long side, tightly roll up the pastry into a log.

  7. Slice the log into ½-inch thick rounds and place on the prepared baking sheet, cut side up.

  8. Brush the tops with beaten egg.

  9. Bake for 15–18 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.

  10. Cool slightly and serve warm!

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, chill the pinwheels in the fridge for 10–15 minutes before baking.

  • You can make them ahead and freeze the unbaked pinwheels — just pop them in the oven straight from the freezer (add a few more minutes of baking time).

  • Try adding herbs like chives or thyme, or swap ham for turkey or cooked bacon for variations.
