Description

These Ham and Cheese Puff Pastry Pinwheels are an easy and delicious appetizer or snack. The flaky puff pastry is filled with savory ham, melted cheese, and a hint of Dijon mustard, creating the perfect combination of flavors. They’re great for parties, picnics, or as a quick after-school treat!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed if frozen)

  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

  • 68 slices of ham (thinly sliced)

  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or a mix of both)

  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  • Prepare the Puff Pastry:
Unroll the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard evenly over the entire sheet of pastry.

  • Add the Filling:
Layer the ham slices over the mustard-covered pastry. Then, sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly on top of the ham.

  • Roll and Slice:
Carefully roll the puff pastry from one edge to the other, creating a tight log. Once rolled, slice the log into 1-inch pinwheels.

  • Bake the Pinwheels:
Place the pinwheels on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them out slightly. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  • Garnish and Serve:
Once baked, remove from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving. Enjoy warm!

Notes

You can use any type of cheese that melts well, like mozzarella or Gruyère, for different flavor variations

  • To make these pinwheels even more flavorful, consider adding a touch of garlic powder or Italian seasoning to the cheese.

  • For a vegetarian version, you can substitute the ham with roasted vegetables like spinach, mushrooms, or bell peppers.
