Description

This luscious Autumn Embrace Dulce de Leche Cake is the perfect dessert to savor during the cozy fall season. Soft, fluffy cake layers filled with rich, caramel-like dulce de leche and topped with sweet whipped cream make this cake a delightful treat. The warm, comforting flavors of vanilla and dulce de leche come together to embrace your taste buds in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup dulce de leche (for filling)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons confectioners’ sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for whipped cream)
  • Additional dulce de leche (for drizzling)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  • Prepare the cake batter:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
In a separate large mixing bowl, cream the unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the whole milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  • Bake the cake:
Divide the cake batter evenly between the two prepared cake pans. Smooth the tops with a spatula.
Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
  • Prepare the whipped cream:
In a chilled mixing bowl, beat the heavy cream, confectioners’ sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
  • Assemble the cake:
Once the cakes are completely cool, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread the dulce de leche evenly over the top of the cake layer.
Place the second cake layer on top and gently press down.
Frost the top and sides of the cake with the whipped cream.
  • Garnish:
Drizzle additional dulce de leche over the top of the cake for extra sweetness and decoration.
  • Serve:
Slice and enjoy this deliciously indulgent cake!

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, you can slightly warm the dulce de leche before spreading it over the cake layers.
  • This cake pairs beautifully with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate.
