Description

These Black Forest Doughnuts combine the rich flavor of chocolate with the sweetness of cherries and a touch of vanilla. Topped with chocolate chips and chopped cherries, they offer a delightful twist on the classic Black Forest cake, perfect for breakfast, dessert, or a sweet treat anytime.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped cherries
  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a doughnut pan or lightly coat it with non-stick spray.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, vegetable oil, egg, and vanilla extract.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  • Gently fold in the chopped cherries and chocolate chips.
  • Spoon the batter into the prepared doughnut pan, filling each mold about 3/4 full.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into a doughnut comes out clean.
  • Let the doughnuts cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Optional: Drizzle with melted chocolate or dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • For extra cherry flavor, you can top the doughnuts with additional chopped cherries.
  • If you prefer, use fresh or frozen cherries, but make sure to chop them into small pieces.
  • These doughnuts are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
