- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract, and mix until smooth.
- Gradually add in the boiling water and stir until fully combined (the batter will be thin).
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For an extra chocolatey flavor, you can frost the cake with chocolate frosting or add a drizzle of melted chocolate on top.
- You can also add a pinch of espresso powder to enhance the chocolate flavor.
- If you prefer, substitute the whole milk with buttermilk for a slightly tangy flavor.
