Description

  • This rich and decadent chocolate cake is made with cocoa powder and chocolate chips for a deeply chocolatey flavor, perfect for any celebration or a delicious treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract, and mix until smooth.
  • Gradually add in the boiling water and stir until fully combined (the batter will be thin).
  • Fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For an extra chocolatey flavor, you can frost the cake with chocolate frosting or add a drizzle of melted chocolate on top.
  • You can also add a pinch of espresso powder to enhance the chocolate flavor.
  • If you prefer, substitute the whole milk with buttermilk for a slightly tangy flavor.
