Instructions

For the Cake:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 1/2 cups buttermilk

For the Cinnamon Filling:

  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon

For the Cream Cheese Icing:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Notes

For the Cake:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the buttermilk. Mix until combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.

For the Cinnamon Filling:

  1. In a small bowl, mix together the melted butter, brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon until smooth.
  2. Drizzle the cinnamon filling evenly over the batter, then use a knife or toothpick to swirl it into the cake batter, creating a marbled effect.

For the Cream Cheese Icing:

  1. In a medium bowl, beat together the softened butter, powdered sugar, cream cheese, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until smooth and creamy.
  2. Once the cake has cooled for a few minutes, drizzle the cream cheese icing over the top.

To Serve:

  1. Slice the cake into squares and serve warm, or allow it to cool completely for a more solid texture.
