Pan-fried cinnamon bananas are a quick, delicious, and sweet treat that make for the perfect breakfast, snack, or dessert. Soft, caramelized bananas are coated in a buttery cinnamon-sugar mixture that brings out their natural sweetness. This simple recipe is sure to become a favorite!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe bananas, sliced

  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter

  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

  • Pinch of salt

  • Fresh mint or whipped cream for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • Peel the bananas and slice them into rounds about ½ inch thick.

  • In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.

  • Add the sliced bananas to the skillet and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and soft.

  • While the bananas are cooking, in a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt.

  • Once the bananas are cooked, sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over them, tossing gently to coat the bananas.

  • Add vanilla extract if desired and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the bananas are caramelized.

  • Remove from heat and serve immediately, garnished with fresh mint or whipped cream, if desired.

Notes

  • For an extra indulgent treat, drizzle some honey or maple syrup over the pan-fried bananas.

  • You can add chopped nuts (like walnuts or pecans) for a little crunch.

  • This dish is also great served on top of pancakes or ice cream.
