- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2/3 cup cocoa powder
- 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually stir this dry mixture into the creamed butter mixture.
- Fold in the semisweet chocolate chips.
- Drop rounded spoonfuls of dough onto ungreased cookie sheets.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes, or just until the edges are set.
- Allow the cookies to cool slightly on the cookie sheets before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
- Be careful not to overbake the cookies as they will continue to firm up as they cool.
- If you prefer a richer chocolate flavor, try adding an extra 1/4 cup of cocoa powder.
- These cookies can be stored in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
