Ingredients
Scale
- refrigerated pizza dough (or homemade pizza dough)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup mini pepperoni slices (or regular pepperoni, chopped)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
- Marinara sauce (for dipping, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or grease it lightly.
- Prepare the dough: Unroll the pizza dough onto a lightly floured surface. Cut the dough into 8-10 squares (depending on the size you want for the pizza bombs).
- Assemble the pizza bombs: Place a small amount of shredded mozzarella cheese (about 1 tablespoon) in the center of each square. Top with a few pieces of mini pepperoni. Fold the edges of the dough over the filling, pinching the corners together to seal it tightly into a ball shape. Ensure the dough is sealed to prevent the cheese from leaking out while baking.
- Brush with garlic butter: Place the pizza bombs on the prepared baking sheet. In a small bowl, mix the melted butter, garlic powder, oregano, basil, and crushed red pepper flakes (if using). Brush the garlic butter mixture generously over the tops of the pizza bombs.
- Bake the pizza bombs: Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the pizza bombs are golden brown and puffed up.
- Serve: Once the pizza bombs are out of the oven, let them cool slightly before serving. Serve with marinara sauce on the side for dipping, if desired.
Notes
- Feel free to customize the filling by adding other pizza toppings like cooked sausage, bell peppers, mushrooms, or olives.
- For a vegetarian version, omit the pepperoni and add extra veggies and cheese.
- These pizza bombs can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge before baking, or you can freeze them for later use. Simply bake from frozen, adding a few extra minutes to the baking time.
