Description

Enjoy perfectly crispy tofu with this easy air fryer recipe! Marinated tofu cubes are air-fried to golden perfection, making them a great addition to salads, stir-fries, or just enjoyed as a snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 block firm tofu
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (or arrowroot powder)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar (optional, for extra tang)
  • Salt to taste (optional)

Instructions

  • Press the tofu: Drain the tofu and press it to remove excess moisture. You can wrap the tofu in a clean towel or paper towels and place a heavy object on top for about 10-15 minutes.
  • Prepare the tofu: Once pressed, cut the tofu into cubes (about 1-inch pieces).
  • Marinate the tofu: In a mixing bowl, combine the soy sauce, olive oil, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and rice vinegar (if using). Toss the tofu cubes gently in the marinade, making sure they are well-coated. Let them sit for about 10-15 minutes.
  • Preheat the air fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  • Air fry the tofu: Arrange the tofu cubes in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Air fry at 375°F for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking.
  • Serve: Once the tofu is golden brown and crispy, remove it from the air fryer. Serve it hot, and enjoy as a snack, in a salad, or with rice and veggies!

Notes

  • For even crispier tofu, you can increase the cornstarch to 2 tablespoons.
  • Feel free to add extra seasonings like paprika, chili powder, or cumin for a different flavor profile.
  • For a low-sodium version, use low-sodium soy sauce or coconut aminos.
