Ingredients
-
20 oz. bag frozen shredded hash brown potatoes, thawed
-
2 oz. sharp cheddar cheese, shredded (about 1/2 cup)
-
6 large eggs
-
1/2 cup heavy cream (or milk for a lighter option)
-
1/2 cup cooked bacon, crumbled (about 4–5 strips)
-
1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
-
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
-
Salt and pepper, to taste
-
1 tablespoon butter, melted (for greasing the pan)
-
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
-
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9-inch pie dish or quiche dish with melted butter. -
Prepare the Hash Brown Crust:
In a large bowl, combine the thawed hash brown potatoes, 1/4 cup of the shredded cheddar cheese, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Press the mixture into the bottom of the prepared pie dish to form an even crust. Bake the crust for 15-20 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and crispy. Remove from the oven and set aside. -
Prepare the Quiche Filling:
While the crust is baking, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream (or milk), garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Stir in the crumbled bacon, chopped onion, and the remaining 1/4 cup of shredded cheddar cheese. -
Assemble the Quiche:
Pour the egg mixture into the baked hash brown crust. Use a spoon to spread the filling evenly. -
Bake the Quiche:
Bake the quiche for 30-35 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is lightly golden. You can test the doneness by inserting a knife into the center—it should come out clean.
-
Cool and Serve:
Let the quiche cool for about 5-10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired, and serve warm.
Notes
You can add other fillings to the quiche, such as spinach, mushrooms, or bell peppers, for added flavor and texture.
For a lighter version, you can substitute the heavy cream with half-and-half or milk.
If you don’t have cooked bacon on hand, you can use pre-cooked bacon or crumbled sausage for a different flavor.
