Description

These Homemade BBQ Chip Chicken Nuggets are ultra-crispy, baked to perfection, and packed with smoky barbecue flavor. Coated in crushed BBQ chips and seasoned with BBQ sauce, they’re a crowd-pleasing snack or meal that’s both easy to make and delicious.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs (680g) chicken breast, cut into 1.5-inch pieces
  • 1/3 cup (80ml) BBQ sauce
  • 2 tablespoons (30g) BBQ seasoning (e.g., Jack Daniel’s Pork Rub)
  • 2 (7.75 oz) bags regular BBQ chips
  • Chick-Fil-A sauce, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  • Prepare the BBQ Chip Coating: In a blender or food processor, pulse the BBQ chips until they resemble the size of panko breadcrumbs. Transfer the crushed chips to a shallow bowl.
  • Season the Chicken: In a medium bowl, combine the chicken pieces with BBQ sauce and BBQ seasoning. Stir to evenly coat the chicken.
  • Coat the Chicken: Take each seasoned chicken piece and roll it in the crushed BBQ chips, pressing gently to ensure the coating sticks. Place the coated chicken pieces on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 12-16 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the coating is crispy.
  • Serve: Remove from the oven and serve with Chick-Fil-A sauce or your preferred dipping sauce.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the BBQ seasoning.
  • Ensure the chicken pieces are of uniform size for even cooking.
  • These nuggets are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
