Ingredients
Scale
- 2 flour tortillas (8-inch)
- 1 lb ground beef (or chicken, if preferred)
- 1 packet taco seasoning (or homemade seasoning)
- 1/2 cup water (for taco seasoning)
- 1 cup refried beans (optional)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
- 1/2 cup sliced black olives
- 1/2 cup chopped green onions
- 1/2 cup sour cream (for topping)
- Salsa (for topping)
- Jalapeños (optional, for topping)
- Fresh cilantro (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). - Cook the Ground Beef:
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned and crumbled. Drain any excess fat. Add taco seasoning and water according to package instructions (usually 1/2 cup water and the seasoning mix). Stir to combine and simmer for 5 minutes, then remove from heat. - Prepare the Tortillas:
Place the flour tortillas on a baking sheet. Lightly brush each tortilla with a bit of olive oil or butter for extra crispiness. Bake for 5-7 minutes, or until golden and crispy. - Assemble the Pizza:
Once the tortillas are crispy, spread a thin layer of refried beans (if using) on each tortilla. Then, evenly distribute the cooked taco beef over the tortillas. Sprinkle both mozzarella and cheddar cheeses generously on top. - Bake the Pizza:
Return the assembled pizzas to the oven and bake for 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly. - Add Fresh Toppings:
Once out of the oven, sprinkle with diced onions, tomatoes, black olives, and green onions. Add any other optional toppings, such as jalapeños or fresh cilantro. - Serve:
Slice the Mexican pizza into wedges. Top with sour cream, salsa, and additional cilantro if desired. Serve hot and enjoy!
Notes
- You can swap the beef for ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
- For a vegetarian version, skip the meat and load up with extra veggies, like bell peppers or corn.
- If you like a spicier pizza, drizzle some hot sauce on top before serving.
