Description

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs)

  • 1/2 cup honey

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (low-sodium preferred)

  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce (optional for extra flavor)

  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic

  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar

  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger (or fresh ginger, minced)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Optional garnish: chopped green onions and sesame seeds


Instructions

  • Prepare the sauce: In a bowl, mix together honey, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, minced garlic, vinegar, ginger, salt, and pepper.

  • Add the chicken to the slow cooker: Place the chicken breasts or thighs into the bottom of the slow cooker.

  • Pour the sauce: Pour the honey garlic sauce over the chicken, making sure the chicken is well-coated.

  • Cook: Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours or on high for 2-3 hours, until the chicken is tender and fully cooked.

  • Serve: Once the chicken is cooked, remove it from the slow cooker. Shred the chicken with two forks, if desired. Stir the sauce in the slow cooker and drizzle over the chicken when serving.

 

  • Optional garnish: Sprinkle with chopped green onions and sesame seeds for extra flavor and texture.

Notes

If you prefer a thicker sauce, remove the chicken once it’s cooked, and simmer the sauce on high in the slow cooker for 10-15 minutes to reduce.

You can also use chicken thighs for a juicier result.

Serve this dish with steamed rice, vegetables, or noodles for a complete meal.
