Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb steak (ribeye, sirloin, or flank steak, thinly sliced)
- 2 tbsp olive oil (for cooking)
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
- 1 tsp ginger, grated (optional for added flavor)
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional for heat)
- 8 oz rotini pasta (or any pasta of your choice)
- 1/2 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (for thickening)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
- Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the Pasta:
- Cook the rotini pasta according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Cook the Steak:
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Season the steak slices with salt and pepper. Once the oil is hot, add the steak to the skillet in batches, if necessary, and cook for about 2-3 minutes per side or until the steak reaches your desired level of doneness. Remove the steak from the skillet and set it aside.
- Make the Honey Garlic Sauce:
- In the same skillet, lower the heat to medium and add the minced garlic. Cook for 1 minute, stirring frequently, until fragrant.
- Add the honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and grated ginger (if using) to the skillet. Stir well to combine.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
- Thicken the Sauce:
- To thicken the sauce further, whisk in the cornstarch mixture (cornstarch mixed with water). Stir and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the sauce becomes sticky and coats the back of a spoon.
- Combine the Steak and Pasta:
- Add the cooked steak slices back into the skillet, tossing them in the sauce to coat evenly.
- Add the cooked rotini pasta to the skillet, stirring to coat the pasta in the honey garlic sauce.
- Garnish and Serve:
- Serve the Sticky Honey Garlic Steak and Rotini in bowls or on plates. Garnish with fresh parsley and sesame seeds for an extra touch of flavor and color.
Notes
- Steak Variations: You can use different cuts of steak such as sirloin, ribeye, or flank steak. Flank steak is a great option because it’s tender when sliced thinly against the grain.
- Add Vegetables: Feel free to add steamed vegetables like broccoli, bell peppers, or spinach to the dish for extra nutrition and color.
- Spice Level: If you prefer a spicier kick, increase the amount of red pepper flakes or add a few drops of sriracha to the sauce.
- Gluten-Free Option: Use tamari instead of soy sauce for a gluten-free version of this dish.
