Ingredients

  • 1 pre-made angel food cake (or 1 box mix)

  • 1 can (18 oz) cherry pie filling

  • 1 package (3.4 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix

  • 1½ cups cold milk

  • 1 cup sour cream

  • 8 oz whipped topping (e.g., Cool Whip)

  • Optional: sliced almonds for garnish


Instructions

  • Prepare the Cake: Cut the cooled angel food cake into 1-inch cubes.

  • Make the Pudding Layer: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the instant pudding mix and cold milk until thickened.

  • Combine with Sour Cream: Fold in the sour cream until smooth.

  • Assemble the Cake: In a 9×9-inch dish, layer half of the cake cubes. Spread half of the pudding mixture over the cake. Repeat with the remaining cake cubes and pudding.

  • Add the Topping: Spread the cherry pie filling evenly over the top.

  • Chill: Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow flavors to meld.

 

  • Serve: Before serving, garnish with sliced almonds if desired.

Ensure the angel food cake is completely cooled before cutting to maintain its texture.
