Description
This homemade pizza dough is the perfect base for all your favorite pizza creations. Soft, chewy, and easy to make, it elevates your pizza to the next level, whether you’re making a classic Margherita or experimenting with your own toppings.
Ingredients
-
2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
-
1 1/2 cups warm water (about 110°F)
-
3 1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
-
1 tablespoon sugar
-
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
-
2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
-
In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes foamy.
-
In a large mixing bowl, combine 3 1/2 cups of flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil.
-
Mix until the dough starts to come together, then transfer to a lightly floured surface.
-
Knead the dough for 8-10 minutes, adding more flour as needed, until the dough is smooth and elastic.
-
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours or until it doubles in size.
-
Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C).
-
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into portions. Roll each portion into a ball and let it rest for 10 minutes.
-
Roll out the dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
-
Add your favorite pizza sauce, cheese, and toppings, and bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
Notes
For a crispier crust, preheat a pizza stone or baking sheet in the oven before placing the dough on it.
If you’re not using the dough immediately, you can refrigerate it for up to 3 days or freeze it for later use.
