Ingredients
-
2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs), cooked and shredded
-
1 tablespoon olive oil
-
1 teaspoon garlic powder
-
1 teaspoon onion powder
-
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
-
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
-
Salt and pepper to taste
-
1/2 cup sour cream (optional for a creamy texture)
-
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or Mexican blend)
-
1 cup shredded lettuce
-
1/2 cup diced tomatoes
-
1/2 cup diced onions
-
1/2 cup sliced avocado (optional)
-
4 large flour tortillas
-
1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped (optional for garnish)
-
Salsa or hot sauce for serving (optional)
Instructions
-
Prepare the chicken: If using raw chicken, cook the chicken breasts in a skillet over medium heat with 1 tablespoon of olive oil for 6-7 minutes on each side until cooked through. Remove from the heat, let it rest for a few minutes, then shred the chicken using two forks. If using pre-cooked chicken, simply shred it.
-
Season the chicken: In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded chicken with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper. Stir to coat the chicken evenly with the seasonings. Add sour cream if you’d like a creamy texture.
-
Prepare the wraps: Lay out the flour tortillas on a clean surface. Divide the seasoned shredded chicken evenly among the tortillas.
-
Add cheese and toppings: Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the chicken, followed by a handful of lettuce, diced tomatoes, onions, and optional avocado slices.
-
Roll the wraps: Fold in the sides of the tortillas, then roll them up tightly to form wraps. Make sure the fillings stay secure as you roll.
-
Cook the wraps: Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Once hot, place the wraps seam-side down on the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes, pressing lightly with a spatula, until the wrap is golden brown and crispy. Flip the wraps and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and the other side is golden.
-
Serve: Remove from the skillet, slice in half, and garnish with fresh cilantro. Serve with salsa or hot sauce on the side for added flavor.
Notes
-
You can easily make these wraps vegetarian by substituting the chicken with black beans, grilled vegetables, or tofu.
