- Brownies:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons instant coffee granules
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Mocha Frosting:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons strong brewed coffee
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9 inch baking pan.
- In a medium bowl, mix together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, combine sugar, melted butter, eggs, instant coffee, and vanilla extract. Gradually add the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
- Bake in preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow to cool completely before frosting.
Mocha Frosting:
- In a medium bowl, cream together softened butter, powdered sugar, cocoa powder, brewed coffee, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Once the brownies have cooled, spread the frosting over the top. Cut into squares and serve.
Notes
- If you like a stronger coffee flavor, you can increase the amount of instant coffee.
- Make sure the brownies are completely cooled before applying the frosting to prevent it from melting.
- For an extra touch, sprinkle some chocolate shavings or cocoa nibs on top of the frosting.
