Description

This no-knead artisan bread is incredibly easy to make and produces a perfectly crusty loaf with a soft, chewy interior. With minimal effort and just a few ingredients, you’ll have bakery-quality bread at home!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons coarse sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon active dry yeast (or instant yeast)
  • 1 ½ cups warm water (about 110°F)

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sea salt, and yeast.
  • Add the warm water to the dry ingredients and stir until the mixture forms a shaggy dough.
  • Cover the bowl with a damp cloth or plastic wrap and let it sit at room temperature for 12-18 hours (overnight works great). The dough should rise and bubble slightly.
  • After the dough has rested, preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and place a Dutch oven or oven-safe pot with a lid in the oven to heat up for 30 minutes.
  • While the pot is heating, turn the dough out onto a floured surface and shape it into a round loaf.
  • Carefully remove the hot pot from the oven and place the dough inside. Cover the pot with the lid.
  • Bake the bread for 30 minutes with the lid on. After 30 minutes, remove the lid and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the bread has a golden-brown crust.
  • Once baked, remove the bread from the pot and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes

  • The dough will be quite sticky, so it’s important to handle it gently.
  • For best results, use a heavy-duty Dutch oven that can withstand high heat.
  • You can add herbs or garlic to the dough for extra flavor if you like.
