Whether you’re craving something cheesy, hearty, or full of flavor, this recipe checks all the boxes, combining protein, veggies, and the irresistible combination of garlic and Parmesan.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb cheese-filled tortellini (fresh or frozen)
  • 2 chicken breasts or thighs (cooked and sliced)
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 4 cloves garlic (freshly minced)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese (avoid powdered)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Cook the Tortellini:
    • In a large pot of salted water, cook the tortellini according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  • Sauté the Chicken:
    • In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat.
    • Add the sliced chicken and season with salt and pepper. Cook until golden and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  • Cook the Broccoli:
    • In the same skillet, add the broccoli florets. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until tender-crisp, adding a pinch of salt and pepper. Remove and set aside with the chicken.
  • Prepare the Sauce:
    • In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
    • Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a simmer, scraping up any bits from the bottom of the skillet.
    • Add the heavy cream and Parmesan cheese, stirring until the cheese has melted and the sauce has thickened, about 5 minutes.
    • Season with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper to taste.
  • Combine Everything:
    • Return the cooked chicken, broccoli, and tortellini to the skillet. Toss everything together until well coated in the creamy garlic Parmesan sauce.
    • Let it cook for another 2-3 minutes to heat everything through and meld the flavors together.
  • Serve and Enjoy:
    • Serve hot, garnished with additional Parmesan cheese or fresh herbs if desired. Enjoy your creamy, savory, and satisfying skillet meal!

Notes

  • You can substitute the chicken for shrimp or even ground turkey for a different protein option.
  • For a dairy-free version, use coconut milk or a dairy-free cream substitute and nutritional yeast instead of Parmesan.
  • Add some crushed red pepper flakes for a spicy kick or more Italian seasoning for an extra herbal flavor boost.
